The ceremonies in progress
Participants prayed for the Kabaka to be blessed by the Creator.
The ceremony, held in Toronto, began with a Mass sung by Rev. Fr. Cyril Balaba from the Diocese of Mityana. During the service, prayers were offered for the Kabaka’s good health, wisdom, and longevity, and the message was reflected through scripture.
Pastor Cyril Balaba thanked the Kabaka for guiding and keeping track of his people wherever they are, conveying his message through the grateful participants.
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, in a message read via Zoom, thanked the Canadians for their donations toward digging safe water sources in rural areas and urged them to continue in that spirit.

Hon. Katikkiro delivering the Kabaka’s message
The Minister of Local Government, Kabaka’s Visits, and Foreign Affairs, Oweek Joseph Kawuki, said that the Kabaka’s health has improved and that he continues to perform his duties under the advice of doctors.
He thanked the community for participating in the annual prayer programme, noting that since the Kingdom’s self-organisation, Baganda have not relied on colonial authorities but have received guidance and support directly from the Kabaka, who often serves as a shield for his people.

The Kabaka’s Representative in Canada delivering the message
The representative explained that Baganda are proud of this independence because of the exemplary leadership of Ssekabaka Edward Frederick Walugembe Muteesa II and Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
He also noted that, despite historical challenges—including unresolved matters from the 1960s—Buganda has continued to progress, achieving many development milestones.
This year marked the seventh consecutive annual Day of Prayer for the Kabaka and the Kingdom organised by Baganda in Canada.
