Buganda Kingdom sends condolences to Sudhir Ruparelia over his son’s death
The Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has described the death of Rajiv Ruparelia as a major shock and an example of the deep pain parents go through when they lose a child.
Katikkiro Mayiga visited the home of businessman Sudhir Ruparelia in Kololo on Friday, 3 May 2025, to convey condolences on behalf of the Kabaka and the entire Buganda Kingdom.
“All death is a shock, but the loss of a child is even more painful. It is beyond words,” said Katikkiro Mayiga.
“Rajiv died in a car accident after attending a friend’s wedding. He had returned home and even had lunch with the family. Later that night, news came in that he had passed. It is truly devastating.”

The Katikkiro added that Buganda stands with Sudhir during this time because he has been a strong supporter of the Kingdom and its causes.
“On the very evening Rajiv passed away, his father Sudhir had attended the Queen’s Ball organized by the Nnaabagereka (Queen) Women’s Fund, where he contributed UGX 25 million to support mental health programs.”
Katikkiro Mayiga expressed the Kingdom’s sympathy and prayed for strength for Sudhir’s family, calling Rajiv’s passing a tragedy that is hard to comprehend.
