Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga expressed his delight at the members of the Ssenkoole family.
“The glory of Buganda that we sing comes from the clans, and the Buganda of tomorrow cannot be destroyed because many people understand the importance of their clans,” the Katikkiro said.
He warmly welcomed the members of the Ssenkoole family who visited him at Bulange, who also donated oluwalo, amakula, and amantambutambu, and brought youth to learn about the plans and programs of the Kingdom.
The delegation was led by Omutaka Ssenkoole Edward Mukiibi Kigongo, Omusiime Meseach Ssemakula, other chiefs, and descendants of the house.
“We Bagandans, as custodians of the Kingdom, have the responsibility to protect the dignity of the throne,” Katikkiro Mayiga added, urging clan leaders to document their affairs so that all members understand their heritage and responsibilities.
Omutaka Ssenkoole V, Edward Mukiibi Kigongo, spoke at the gathering held at the Butikkiro in Mengo, encouraging Baganda to preserve the Luganda language and teach it to children to ensure it continues to thrive.
Ssenkoole is one of the honors given to the Kabaka’s Abambowa, who perform various privileged duties in the Kingdom. They are descendants of Ndugwa and belong to the Lugave clan.
