The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, is celebrating 12 years since he was appointed to the position by His Majesty the Kabaka.
During the event, the Katikkiro expressed gratitude to the Kabaka for entrusting him with the Ddamula (royal mace) over the past 12 years and for his continued guidance on various matters.
He also thanked the Royal Family for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He acknowledged the support of the Kabaka’s Cabinet, the clan heads (Abataka), county chiefs (Abaami b’Amasaza), institutional leaders, and the wider Buganda community for working with him over the years to implement the Kabaka’s vision.
The Katikkiro also paid tribute to his wife, children, relatives, and friends, whom he described as key pillars in his ability to serve the Kabaka effectively.
At the same event, he launched his new book titled “Kabaka ku Nnamulondo” (Kabaka on the Throne), a Luganda adaptation of his earlier English publication “King on the Throne.” He explained that the book comprises 15 chapters and includes several new developments that have occurred since the first edition was released.

He encouraged people to write books about their own lives, experiences, and contributions—urging them not to leave their stories to be told by others. He emphasized the importance of preserving personal and collective history for future generations.
Looking ahead to his 13th year in office, the Katikkiro called on all Baganda to walk with him in unity, share ideas, and support one another in strengthening the kingdom and its cultural leadership, so that Buganda may continue to rise.
The County Chief (Kangaawo) of Bulemeezi, Hon. Ronald Mulondo, was the keynote speaker at the event. He highlighted the Katikkiro’s achievements over the past 12 years, including raising the kingdom’s profile and advancing development in sectors such as agriculture, health, education, sports, talent promotion, and youth empowerment.
