Hon. Amb. William Solomon Matovu in his later years
Mpala – Wakiso District:
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga visited the home of the late William Matovu in Mpala – Nkumba to extend condolences.
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has condoled with the family of the late Ambassador William Solomon Matovu, who was a board member of Kabaka Foundation.
The Katikkiro praised the late Matovu as a knowledgeable and respected advisor both in Buganda and Uganda at large.
“He was a man of wisdom and influence, always ready to guide others. He served the Kingdom and the country with distinction,” Mayiga said.
He explained that after retiring from central government duties, Matovu committed himself to serving the Kabaka. He had previously served as Principal Private Secretary during Katikkiro Mulwanyamuli’s tenure and later rejoined the Kabaka’s office in another capacity.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Omutaka Timothy Muwonge of the Kajabaga clan in the Engabi lineage described Matovu as a trusted and dependable elder.
“He was an educator, a mentor and a symbol of values we strive to uphold. The clan has lost a pillar,” Muwonge remarked.
He thanked the Katikkiro and the Kingdom for publicly honoring Matovu’s contributions.
The body of the deceased will be brought home on Wednesday, followed by a prayer service at Namirembe Cathedral at 12:30 PM. A burial organizing committee, headed by Minister Noah Kiyimba, has been instituted by the Kingdom to oversee the arrangements.
