Women’s Day celebrations were held at the Buganda Kingdom county offices of Musaale Wakyato in Nakaseke District.

Hon. Mariam Nkalubo Mayanja, Buganda Kingdom Minister for Welfare, Environment, Water, and Human Settlements, was the chief guest, while Luwero Triangle Minister Alice Kaboyo served as the special guest.

In her address, Hon. Mariam Mayanja thanked the organisers for their efforts and praised the unity shown by the women, who turned up in large numbers. She also urged people to be cautious of politicians who may mislead them during this election period, encouraging voters to choose wisely.

The Chief of Bulemeezi, Owek. Kkangawo Ronald Mulondo, expressed concern over the continued practice of child marriages in parts of Nakaseke, which he said was one of the reasons for choosing the county to host this year’s celebration—to raise awareness of the dangers of the practice.

The event featured workshops and games, with winners receiving prizes including gomesi dresses, cash, and other gifts.
