The Buganda Kingdom is mourning the passing of Corporal Julius Mukasa Mulyanga, who served faithfully as both driver and security officer to Her Royal Highness Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda for over 20 years.
A thanksgiving service for his life was held at St. Stephen’s Church in Kireka, attended by the Nnaabagereka, Buganda Kingdom officials, representatives from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), family, and friends.
In a message delivered by Minister Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko on behalf of the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, the Kingdom praised Corporal Mulyanga for his calmness, discipline, and dedication—especially throughout his years of service to the Nnaabagereka. The Katikkiro extended his heartfelt condolences to the widow, children, and the entire family, praying for God’s comfort.

The Nnaabagereka, in her own message, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a loyal and hardworking team member. She described him as disciplined, committed, and passionate about his work.

John Kitenda, head of Nkuluze—the Kingdom’s security department where the late officer served—commended Corporal Mulyanga as an innovative and dedicated professional. He noted that despite starting in a junior position, Mulyanga quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a dependable driver and security aide.
Senior security officials, including Col. Edward Herbert Tahunga and Capt. Christopher Lutwama, praised the late officer’s loyalty and professionalism. They encouraged the public to undergo regular health checkups, even when they feel healthy.

Corporal Julius Mukasa Mulyanga will be laid to rest tomorrow at his ancestral home in Kanywa, Naluzaali, Masaka District, Buddu County.
