Lwemwedde, Busiro

The Nnabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda, has urged parents to focus on raising children with strong values and a spirit of service, emphasizing that the most valuable legacy is not material wealth, but the character that endures.

Speaking at a memorial prayer service held in Lwemwedde, Busiro, in honour of the late Paul Kayongo Lule and Margaret Faith Lule, parents of Professor Godfrey Lule Nsereko, the Nnabagereka stressed that parents must lead by example.

She said:

“As parents, we must ensure that what we leave behind can be carried forward by our children, with good character, love, and a spirit of service.”

She further encouraged parents to guide their children towards a life not driven by materialism, but by compassion and care for others.

A Legacy of Values

The Nnabagereka praised the lives of Paul and Margaret Lule, noting that their life’s work is reflected in the quality of the children they raised.

She described their children as valuable to the nation, adding that a parent’s life is revealed through the character and actions of their children.

Honouring the Living

In a touching message, the Nnabagereka commended Professor Godfrey Lule Nsereko and his wife for their service to people in need, particularly those seeking medical care in Nairobi.

She emphasized the importance of appreciating people while they are still alive:

“It is important to thank those who have done good while they are still living.”

Call for National Unity

At the same event, former Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda, Joseph Mulwanyammuli Ssemogerere, called on citizens to uphold unity and cooperation.

He said:

“Uganda belongs to everyone. We must love one another and keep our country united.”

He warned against divisions that could separate people, stressing that unity is essential in maintaining a stable nation.

Appreciation and Prayer

In his remarks, Professor Godfrey Lule Nsereko expressed gratitude to the guests for their support and the trust they have shown him over the years.

He described his service as a calling to serve others.

The service was led by Augustine Magala Musiwufu, who prayed for the souls of the deceased and for strength for their family.

A Grand Occasion

The event was attended by members of the Buganda Royal Family, including princesses and other dignitaries, as well as many people from different parts of the country.
