Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga advises couples not to focus on material wealth, emphasizing that true happiness in marriage comes from small, thoughtful gestures between spouses.
Katikkiro delivered this message at St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University, where he attended the wedding of Constance Nagawa Ssentongo and Calvin Atuhairwe, officiated by Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni.
Katikkiro Mayiga explained that expensive cars or big houses do not bring happiness in marriage; rather, the key is love, trust, honesty, and mutual respect between partners.
“Marriage does not require wealth; while wealth is good, it is the small acts of kindness and thoughtfulness that give spirit and bring love. Couples should focus on these, as material things will come later” – Katikkiro Mayiga

Owek. Mayiga thanked the parents of the couple for properly preparing and guiding their children to make informed and holy marital choices. He also expressed gratitude to Dr. Collins Ssentongo, father of the bride, for his support and dedication.
Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni encouraged the couple to understand that marriage is a journey of cooperation and that life’s challenges require patience and reliance on God. He reminded everyone to always seek God’s guidance to succeed in all circumstances, especially in matters of the heart.
Rev. Twinomujuni urged each individual to be considerate and reminded them that, though everyone is human and may make mistakes, forgiveness, patience, and mutual understanding ensure a strong and lasting marriage.
The ceremony was attended by Omulangira David Kintu Wasajja, Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, other Buganda dignitaries, and friends.
